Bryn-Serth Road Bridge Closure - Starting 15th Feb 2016
Bryn-Serth Road bridge (between Nant-y Croft Road and Rassau Road) will be fully closed for refurbishment from the 15th Feb for approx 5 weeks. Diversions will be signposted locally. Access along the old A465 carriageway between Rassau Industrial Estate and Rassau has now been re-opened to traffic. We apologise for any inconvenience that the works may cause to your journeys.
Garnlydan Footbridge Closure - Starting 25th Jan 16
Please note that as part of the modification works to the Old A465 road we will be undertaking refurbishment work to Garnlydan Footbridge (crosses over the old A465). In order to undertake this work safely and efficiently we will be closing it for approximately 2-3 weeks commencing on the 25th Jan 16. Please see the attached map for details of the pedestrian diversion route.

Carriageway Works Requiring Closures on the old A465.
Carillion will be undertaking works to the old A465 carriageway to change it from a 3 lane carriageway to a single carriegway plus cycleway between Rassau Industrial Est Roundabout and Ebbw Vale Roundabout. This closure will start on the 5th October for approximately 4 months. Local diversions will be signed utilising Bryn Serth Road. We apologise in advance for any onconvenince this closure may cause to your journey time.
A465 Main carriageway – New Road Layout between Tredegar and Brynmawr.
Both lanes of the new A465 carriageway are now operational in each direction (subject to localised single lane closures for finishing works) between Tredegar and Brynmawr. Please take care when joining from the new junctions as you will now be merging with the A465 traffic. Speed restrictions may be signed in places to protect the workforce along the length of the scheme. If you are travelling to Ebbw Vale, Rassau or Garnlydan, you must exit onto the old road as signposted.
The road over Carno Valley is now complete having placed over 300,000 cubic meters of fill over the new concrete arch.

A465 Dualling Section 3 - Officially Opened 28th Sept 2015
Edwina Hart - Minister for Economy, Science and Transport, officially opened the Brynmawr to Tredegar Section of the A465 today. The Opening was marked by the unvailing of a plaque by the Minister and tree planting ceremony assisted by local school children from Ebbw Fawr Learning Community. The ceremony marks completion of the third section of the A465 Abergavenny to Hirwaun Dualling Scheme being carried out by the Welsh Government.
The project team would like to thank all of our neighbours for their patience and support during construction and all of our suppliers, subcontractors and workforce (many of which live locally to the scheme) for their efforts in delivering the scheme to a successful conclusion.
Work has now commenced to upgrade sections of the old road between Tredegar and Brynmawr. This will invovle introduction of a new cycleway between Rassau Industrial Estate Roundabout and Ebbw Vale Roundabout as well as construction of a new junction with Llangynidr Road. Please continue to read the right hand column of this page to find out about any restrictions to traffic including road closures.
Section 3 extends from Intermediate Road Bridge near Brynmawr roundabout to Nant y Bwch roundabout at Tredegar. It is the next phase of the A465 dualling scheme to be delivered by the Welsh Government, helping to improve journeys and drive regeneration along the Heads of the Valleys. The A465 forms a vital part of the Trans European Network link between Ireland and the Midlands.

A465 Section 2 Gilwern to Brynmawr
The next section of the A465 Heads of the Valleys Dualling Scheme is now underway. It will involve dualling the section of A465 road between Gilwern roundabout and Brynmawr (just North of Intermediate Road Bridge).
